An excavator stick cylinder, also known as the arm, crowd, or dipper cylinder, is a hydraulic component designed to facilitate the back-and-forth movement of the dipper arm on an excavator. This cylinder is typically the largest one found on the excavator.

Positioned between the boom cylinder and the bucket cylinder, the stick cylinder is connected to the dipper arm at each end. When hydraulic fluid is pumped into the cylinder, the piston rod extends, pushing the dipper arm forward. Conversely, when hydraulic fluid is released from the cylinder, the piston rod retracts, drawing the dipper arm back.

Isabella Hayes, Operations Coordinator

Our team’s excavator cylinders have been in use for two months. They manage the bucket tilt and boom lift consistently, even in wet conditions. The build feels sturdy, and the piston rod hasn’t shown wear marks. We had a minor issue with initial fittings, but it was sorted quickly.
