Two Stage Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinder

A two-stage telescopic hydraulic cylinder is a type of telescopic hydraulic cylinder with a two-stage telescopic piston rod. It is composed of two piston hydraulic cylinders, and the piston rod of the first piston cylinder is the cylinder of the second piston cylinder. The cylinder usually has an oil inlet and an oil outlet at both ends, which are used to control the inflow and outflow of hydraulic oil. When the pressure oil enters through the rodless cavity, the cylinder with the largest effective area of the piston (i.e. the first stage cylinder) begins to extend. When the first stage cylinder is extended to the end, the cylinder with the next effective area of the piston (i.e. the second stage cylinder) begins to extend. Elongation sequence from large to small, can obtain a longer working stroke. The smaller the effective area of the overstretched cylinder, the faster the extension speed, so the extension speed from slow to fast, the corresponding hydraulic thrust from large to small. When retracting, it is generally retracted from small to large, that is, the second stage cylinder is retracted first, and then the first stage cylinder is retracted.

How to Choose the Right Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinder?

Selecting the correct telescopic hydraulic cylinder for your application is vital to ensure optimal performance and durability. When making your choice, consider the following factors:

  1. Load Capacity: Assess the maximum load your cylinder needs to lift or push, ensuring the selected cylinder's capacity exceeds this load.
  2. Stroke Length: Determine the necessary stroke length (the distance the cylinder must extend and retract) to fulfill your application's requirements.
  3. Mounting Style: Evaluate the mounting configuration of the cylinder to confirm compatibility with your equipment. Options include single-acting, double-acting, and custom mounts.
  4. Operating Environment: Consider the conditions the cylinder will encounter, factoring in temperature, chemical exposure, and dust to choose suitable materials and seals.
  5. Speed and Precision: Assess the required speed and precision of the cylinder's movements, as some applications necessitate quicker actions while others require more careful control.
  6. Customization: Utilize customization options to adjust the cylinder to your specific needs. Consult with our experts at GBC for tailored solutions.

Our dump trucks rely on telescopic hydraulic cylinders for tipping, and they’ve performed consistently. The extension is smooth, and they hold up under repeated cycles. We had an issue with a pin alignment during installation, but support walked us through it. They’re quieter than our old units, and the oil consumption seems efficient. A good balance of durability and cost for our operations.
