PTO Wide Angle Joint – Constant Velocity Universal Joint for Extreme Articulation
Standard Cardan-type universal joints introduce speed fluctuations and vibration when operating at angles above 15–20°. The wide angle joint (CV joint, constant velocity PTO joint) solves this by maintaining uniform rotational velocity at angles up to 80°. This makes it essential for front-mounted PTO implements, offset mowers, vineyard sprayers and any configuration where the driveline must accommodate steep or constantly changing angles. GBC supplies seven series covering cross sizes from 23.8×61.3 mm to 42×104.5 mm.

Can a wide angle joint replace a standard U-joint?
Yes, when operating angles exceed 15–20°. At lower angles a standard U-joint is sufficient and more economical.
Do wide angle joints need greasing?
Most are supplied pre-greased with sealed bearings. Periodic re-greasing (every 100 hours) extends service life.
What is the maximum RPM for a wide angle joint?
Typically rated for 540 RPM at maximum angle and 1000 RPM at reduced angles. Check specific series limits.
