The GBC Silver Series is a light-duty all stainless steel bearing unit range designed for low-load food processing, packaging, and pharmaceutical positions where corrosion resistance and a compact housing footprint are the primary requirements. Two stainless insert types are available: SK (setscrew locking, stainless steel equivalent of the standard K insert) and SU (eccentric collar locking, stainless steel equivalent of the standard U insert). Both insert types are constructed from stainless steel material superior in corrosion resistance compared to the normal Silver Series chrome steel insert.
SK and SU inserts are used in KP, KFL, UP, and UFL-format Silver Series housings. SK vs Standard K Insert
SK insert has the same design and dimensions as the standard chrome steel K insert but is constructed from stainless steel material. Superior corrosion resistance compared to the normal Silver Series insert — for positions where the K housing is already installed and only the insert needs upgrading to stainless.
SU vs Standard U Insert
SU insert has the same design and dimensions as the standard chrome steel U insert but is constructed from stainless steel. Eccentric collar locking — self-tightening under unidirectional rotation — for positions where collar locking is preferred over setscrew, in stainless material for corrosive environments.
Compact Light-Duty Housing
Silver Series housings (KP pillow block, KFL 2-bolt flange) are smaller and lighter than the standard UCP / UCF housing at the same bore size. This makes the stainless Silver Series the right choice for positions where the full SSUC housing footprint is too large or the mounting structure cannot support standard-weight stainless units.
Food-Grade Grease Standard
All stainless Silver Series units are factory pre-filled with food-grade grease as standard. Ready for direct installation in food contact and washdown positions without separate grease specification.
End Cover Compatible
All Silver Series stainless units are capable of accepting end covers on both sides of the housing bore. End covers increase contamination resistance at the shaft entry points — useful in dusty or wet environments where the insert seal alone is not sufficient.
Insert Interchangeability
SK and SU stainless inserts are dimensionally interchangeable with standard K and U inserts in the same Silver Series housing. Upgrading from chrome steel to stainless insert requires no housing change — useful when the standard chrome steel insert corrodes in service before the housing requires replacement.

A setscrew is tightened to prevent the collar from unlocking. SU is self-tightening under unidirectional rotation but must not be used on reversing drives.
