GBC agricultural and farm implement bearings are engineered specifically for the severe contamination environments of agricultural tillage equipment, farm implements, and conveyors. Unlike standard ball bearings with single or double contact seals, agricultural bearings use a specially designed triple lip seal that provides effective protection against the loss of lubricant and the entrance of wet or abrasive contaminants — the primary cause of early bearing failure in field conditions.
Three bore configurations are available to suit different shaft types: round bore with standard press or clearance fit, square bore for square shafts common in tillage equipment, and hex bore for cold-rolled hex shafting used in conveyors and agricultural implements. Round bore and square bore variants include both lubrication-required (with grease groove and holes) and lubrication-free (sealed for life) styles. Contact our team to confirm bore type, size, and seal style for your application.
Round Bore
Standard cylindrical bore for round shafts. Designed for severe contamination environments such as agricultural tillage equipment. Triple lip seal protects against loss of lubricant and entrance of wet or abrasive contaminants. Available in lubrication-required style (grease groove and holes on O.D.) and lubrication-free (sealed for life) style.
Square Bore
Square bore for direct mounting on square shafts common in agricultural tillage equipment — eliminates the need for a shaft key or setscrew. Same triple lip seal protection as round bore. Available in both lubrication-required and lubrication-free styles. Designed for the same severe contamination field environments.
Hex Bore
Hex bore for cold-rolled hex shafting used in low-speed, moderately-loaded agricultural implements and conveyors. The hex bore tolerances suit cold-rolled hex shafting directly — no collars, setscrews, or other locking devices are required to lock the inner ring to the shaft. Axial positioning by adjacent parts only. Main advantage is ease of mounting.
Disk Harrow Units
Triple-lip-sealed bearing mounted in two stampings. Available in 209 and 211 bearing size groups. Dynamic alignment capability ±3°, shroud effect from close clearance of stamping to inner ring, relubrication, one-piece unit for ease of handling, and milled recess on outer ring to prevent circumferential movement.
Triple-Lip Seal Farm Implement Bearings
Designed for severe contamination in agricultural tillage equipment. Triple lip seal protects against lubricant loss and entrance of wet or abrasive contaminants. Round bore for standard shafts; square bore for square shafts. Available in lubrication-required style (grease groove and holes on O.D.) and lubrication-free sealed-for-life style.

Relubricatable Farm Implement Bearing
Hex bore for cold-rolled hex shafting in low-speed, moderately-loaded agricultural implements and conveyors. Inner ring mounts directly on hex shafting without setscrews, collars, or locking devices — axial positioning by adjacent parts. Relubricatable design for extended service intervals in field conditions.

Disc Harrow Farm Implement Bearing Units
Triple-lip-sealed bearing mounted in two pressed steel stampings. Available in 209 and 211 bearing size groups. Dynamic alignment capability ±3°, shroud effect from close clearance of stamping to inner ring, relubrication through grease fitting, one-piece unit for ease of handling and assembly, and outer-ring milled recess to prevent circumferential movement.
View DetailsTriple Lip Seal
Three contact lips provide layered protection against wet soil, dust, crop residue, and abrasive contaminants that penetrate standard single and double seals. The outermost lip deflects gross contamination before it reaches the inner sealing lips. Significantly extends bearing life in field conditions compared to standard sealed bearings.
Square & Hex Bore — No Locking Devices
Square bore and hex bore designs mount directly on square and hex shafts. No keyway, setscrew, eccentric collar, or adapter sleeve is required to prevent the inner ring from spinning on the shaft — the bore geometry provides the torque connection. This simplifies assembly, eliminates the risk of locking device failure, and reduces shaft preparation.
Lubrication-Required & Lube-Free
Round bore and square bore variants are available in two lubrication styles. Lubrication-required (re-lube) style has a grease groove and grease holes on the O.D. for periodic relubrication in service. Lubrication-free (sealed for life) style is factory-lubricated and sealed without grease holes — suitable for positions where relubrication is not practical.
Tillage & Implement Rating
Agricultural bearings are rated for the shock loads, abrasive contamination, variable speeds, and outdoor storage conditions of tillage equipment — conditions not addressed by standard bearing load ratings. The triple lip seal, spherical O.D., and bore design are all chosen for agricultural duty rather than adapted from industrial catalogue bearings.
Hex Bore — Ease of Mounting
The hex bore's main advantage in conveyor and implement applications is ease of mounting: the bearing slides onto the hex shaft, the inner ring locates against the adjacent part, and no locking procedure is needed. This reduces assembly time and eliminates the possibility of incorrect setscrew torque or eccentric collar orientation errors in the field.
Outer Ring Rotation Capable
The hex bore series is designed for outer or inner ring rotation — either the shaft rotates (inner ring rotation) or the housing rotates around a stationary shaft (outer ring rotation). This dual-rotation capability is used in conveyor rollers and agricultural implement positions where the shaft is fixed and the housing revolves.
▶ What is the difference between a triple lip seal agricultural bearing and a standard 2RS bearing?
A standard 2RS bearing uses a single contact rubber seal on each side — effective for general industrial contamination but not rated for the wet soil, abrasive crop material, and field debris of agricultural applications. An agricultural triple lip seal bearing has three contact lips on each side: the outermost lip deflects gross contamination, the middle lip intercepts what passes the first, and the inner lip provides the final seal against the bearing cavity. The result is significantly longer service life in tillage, planting, and harvesting equipment operating in muddy, dusty, and abrasive conditions.
▶ What is the difference between lubrication-required and lubrication-free (sealed for life) styles?
Lubrication-required (re-lube) style has a grease groove machined around the O.D. of the outer ring and grease holes drilled through to the bearing cavity. A grease fitting in the housing delivers grease through these holes directly into the bearing during service. This style is used in positions where the bearing is accessible for periodic relubrication and where long field seasons justify a maintenance schedule. Lubrication-free (sealed for life) style has no grease groove or holes — the bearing is factory-lubricated and the triple lip seal is the only lubricant retention system. This style is used in positions that are inaccessible for relubrication, or where simplicity and zero-maintenance are priorities.
▶ When should I specify a hex bore bearing instead of a round bore with a setscrew?
Specify hex bore when the shaft is cold-rolled hex steel — the bore tolerances of the hex bearing suit cold-rolled hex shafting directly. The hex bore provides the torque connection between shaft and inner ring without any setscrew, keyway, eccentric collar, or adapter. This eliminates setscrew-related failure modes (setscrew loosening under vibration, brinelling of the shaft surface, incorrect torque at assembly) and simplifies installation. Hex bore is the standard choice in agricultural conveyors, chain-driven implement shafts, and any position where hex shafting is already specified.
▶ Can a square bore bearing be used on a round shaft with a square adaptor?
The square bore is dimensioned for direct mounting on a square shaft — it is not designed or rated for use with a square adaptor on a round shaft. For round shafts, specify the round bore series. Using a square bore with an adaptor introduces fit clearances and adaptor failure modes not present with a direct square shaft installation. Contact our team if your application requires a non-standard shaft-to-bore interface.
▶ What is a Disk Harrow Unit and when will it be available?
A Disk Harrow Unit incorporates a triple-lip-sealed bearing mounted in two stampings (pressed steel housings). It provides ±3° dynamic alignment capability, a shroud effect from the close clearance between the stamping and the inner ring, relubrication through a grease fitting, and a milled recess in the outer ring that locates in the stamping to prevent circumferential movement of the outer ring. Available in 209 and 211 bearing size groups. Disk Harrow Units are available now — see the product card above, or contact our team for bore size, grease fitting type, and quantity confirmation.
