🆕 Series Overview

The NOS series is the male-thread counterpart to NHS — a compact pressed-steel-body rod end with PTFE composite liner and external thread for connection to female-threaded clevises. 13 bore sizes from 3 mm to 25 mm.

Zinc-plated pressed steel body. Left-hand thread suffix L. Suited for the same light-to-medium duty applications as NHS but where female-threaded mating hardware is specified.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

▶ What does maintenance-free mean for this rod end bearing?

Maintenance-free means the PTFE composite or PTFE fabric liner provides dry-running lubrication at the spherical contact without requiring periodic grease re-lubrication. Under normal operating conditions the rated service life is achieved without adding lubricant. Protect the bearing from abrasive contamination and chemical attack on the PTFE liner, as these cannot be corrected by re-lubrication.

▶ Can this rod end be used for continuous rotation?

No. Rod end bearings with spherical plain bearing inserts are designed for oscillating and tilting motion. Continuous rotation generates heat at the spherical contact that exceeds the PTFE liner PV limit, causing rapid wear. For rotating applications, select a rod end with a rolling-element insert.

▶ How do I order left-hand thread?

Add suffix L to the part number for left-hand thread. For example, SI 18T/K L indicates left-hand internal thread. Right-hand thread is standard with no suffix required. Stainless steel variants add suffix S.

▶ What is the maximum misalignment angle?

The misalignment angle alpha (a) is listed in the specification table for each size. It is the maximum angular displacement between the bore axis and the housing axis. Do not exceed this angle in service — sustained overangle causes edge loading and shortens service life.

▶ What shaft and housing tolerances are recommended?

Inner ring bore: shaft tolerance h6 for interference fit, f7 for sliding fit. For rod body thread: use standard metric thread engagement of 1.0 to 1.5 times the nominal thread diameter minimum. Apply thread-locking compound where vibration loosening is a risk.
