UCP200 Series Pillow Block Bearing Units — Standard Duty, Setscrew Locking
The UCP200 series pillow block bearing unit is the most widely specified cast iron mounted bearing in general industrial and agricultural machinery worldwide. Combining a wider inner ring UC insert bearing with a rigid grey cast iron housing and dual setscrew retention, this series delivers dependable shaft support across conveyor systems, fan drives, agricultural transmissions, and general-purpose rotating equipment. Shaft diameter coverage runs from 12 mm to 100 mm with full inch-bore variants within each metric housing size, giving procurement teams a single source for virtually any standard application.

GBC engineers the UCP200 housing in grey cast iron to achieve a balance of mass, rigidity, and machinability that alternative materials cannot match at this price point. The hollow-base configuration keeps unit weight to a minimum while maintaining the structural stiffness needed to resist bending moments generated by belt tension or chain pull. The mounting foot accepts standard hex-head bolts through a generous clearance slot, enabling minor positional adjustment during installation without precision-drilled hole patterns in the mounting surface.
How the UCP200 Insert Bearing Works
At the heart of every UCP200 unit sits a UC series wide-inner-ring deep groove ball bearing. The wider inner ring extends beyond the bearing shield on both sides, providing flat seating faces against which the two setscrews bear. These setscrews are positioned 120° apart — not diametrically opposite — so that each screw drives the shaft toward the bearing centreline rather than against each other. This geometry translates setscrew clamping force into a resultant radial grip that centres the shaft in the bore and resists axial drift under normal operating loads.
The outer diameter of the insert is spherical and mates with a corresponding spherical socket machined into the housing bore, allowing up to approximately 2° of angular misalignment between shaft centreline and housing mounting plane — absorbing minor structural deflections, thermal expansion differentials, or installation imprecision without generating corrective bending loads on the bearing.

Ordering Configuration

Specify model directly: UCP205 = 25 mm bore. No suffix required.
Add suffix: UCP205-15 = 15/16" bore. Digits = sixteenths of an inch.
Add SB: e.g. UCP205 SB. Factory option — longer lead time.
+SM = closed caps both ends. S205 = open cap. SM205 = closed one side.

Installation & Maintenance
Verify shaft diameter tolerance at h9 before mounting. Tighten both setscrews progressively in alternating sequence — never fully torque one before engaging the other, as this can cant the inner ring. Re-check torque after the first 8 hours of operation. Re-lubricate every 500–1000 hours under standard conditions using NLGI Grade 2 lithium complex or polyurea grease. In dusty or wet environments, halve this interval. For applications requiring eccentric locking, see the NAP200 eccentric collar series. For tapered bore / adapter sleeve mounting, refer to the UKP200+H series.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between UCP200 and UCPX00?
UCPX00 is a medium-duty series with a heavier housing for higher radial loads. Both use setscrew locking and wide inner ring inserts, but UCPX00 housings are dimensionally larger per shaft size with greater rated load capacity.
Can UCP200 accept both metric and inch shafts?
Yes. Each metric housing size supports multiple inch bore options — specify the suffix when ordering (e.g. UCP206-18 for 1-1/8" bore in a 30 mm housing).
What shaft tolerance is recommended?
ISO h9 is standard. Shafts at k6 or m6 give tighter concentricity but are more difficult to remove. Avoid tolerances tighter than h6 without checking insert bore clearance first.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Standard parts: quantity-based MOQ. New-client samples 1–5 pcs at sample price. Multi-model orders combined from USD 1,500. Retail 1–2 pcs not accepted. Engineering drawings required before confirmation.
