SBFW200 & SAFW200 Series 2-Bolt Flange Bearing Units — FW Housing, Slot Same Side as Locking
The SBFW200 and SAFW200 series introduce the FW housing variant — a two-bolt oval flange where the mounting slot is positioned on the same side of the housing as the setscrew or eccentric collar. This slot orientation is the defining feature that distinguishes the FW housing from the FD housing (SBFD/SAFD200) where the slot is on the opposite side. The practical significance is in the direction that shaft tension or external load acts relative to the mounting bolts: when the operating load pulls the shaft toward the locking collar side, the FW housing's slot-on-same-side orientation provides a shorter moment arm between the load and the nearest bolt, which can provide better housing stability under that specific load direction.
FW vs FD vs SBLF — Housing Slot Orientation
SBLF200 / SALF200 are standard oval flange housings with centreline-symmetric bolt positions. SBFW200 / SAFW200 have the mounting slot on the same side as the locking mechanism (setscrew or collar). SBFD200 / SAFD200 have the mounting slot on the opposite side from the locking mechanism. The slot orientation affects which direction an asymmetric load acts on the housing relative to the bolts — for installations where the load direction is known and one slot orientation provides better stability than the other, specifying the correct FW or FD variant ensures optimised bolt engagement for the actual load path.
