SNG500 Series Split Plummer Block Bearing Housings
SNG500 is a split plummer block range that starts higher in the published shaft sizes than SN500 or SNU500. The catalogue shows SNG507-606 through SNG532 and a 30-140 mm shaft range, with housing weights from roughly 2.6 to 64.0 kg.
The dimensional table is detailed because an SNG replacement has to fit a complete pedestal interface: shaft height, base length, mounting-hole spacing, bearing seat, sleeve and locating arrangement. A quick “500-series” match is not reliable enough for a large industrial machine.
For a wider housing comparison, browse the bearings range before finalising the mounting style.

SNG500 published technical range
The table below keeps the catalogue values used for this series. Use the model-specific drawing for the final interchange decision; dimensions and suffixes can vary inside a family.

SNG500, SNU500 and SN500 are not interchangeable labels
SNG500 should be compared to SN500 and SNU500 only after the pedestal interface and internal bearing package are known. Similar shaft ranges do not guarantee the same base, height or seal arrangement. SAF500 is a different, inch-oriented heavy industrial family.
Large equipment applications for split SNG supports
These are application patterns where the housing concept is commonly considered. Final suitability still depends on load, speed, alignment, environment and the machine designer’s requirements.
Mining and aggregate equipment
Large split housings suit machines where bearing access and robust pedestal mounting are part of the maintenance strategy.
Bulk handling conveyors
The cap-and-base construction supports overhaul work on long drive and return shafts.
Industrial fans and process machinery
SNG provides a serviceable pedestal around larger shaft sizes while retaining conventional base mounting.
Plant rebuilds with existing foundations
The detailed dimensional table helps verify whether an SNG can fit an established base without reworking the machine frame.
SNG500 starts where many smaller pedestal series leave off
30-140 mm published shaft range
The family is concentrated on medium and larger industrial shaft sizes.
Split pedestal design
Bearing access is gained by removing the cap rather than extracting the shaft from a one-piece housing.
Detailed base dimensions
The catalogue publishes H1, a, e, b, u, v, L, J and other fields needed for pedestal matching.
Bearing and sleeve references included
Internal bearing, adapter sleeve and locating information are part of the selection table.

Heavy maintenance work: keep the housing system together
Upper-end models are heavy enough to require controlled handling of caps and components.
Keep each housing cap paired with its own base through the overhaul.
A rebuilt bearing cannot compensate for an unstable or distorted pedestal support.
Rotate the assembly and check adjacent couplings or bearings before returning the machine to load.
Use the base geometry to identify an SNG housing
Use the product drawing as the final dimensional authority. The points below are practical filters that help narrow the correct model before a full drawing comparison.
Base dimensions and bolt spacing are the fastest way to reject a visually similar but incompatible housing.
A wrong H/H1 position can create alignment problems across connected equipment.
Use the bearing and adapter-sleeve references shown for the housing size rather than choosing components independently.
The available space around each shaft end can affect the final housing arrangement.
Send the machine details for a model check
For SNG500, send the existing model marking, shaft diameter, mounting dimensions and a photo of the bearing position. GBC can review the information against the published series before quotation. Email: sales@australia-drive.com.
