LIN-11GKL Series — Open Long Design Pillow Block Linear Bearing Unit Plastic Sliding

4 bore sizes · Open long housing · Two bearings · Moment resistance + retrofit

Open Long HousingTwo BearingsMoment ResistanceRetrofit Friendly

🆕 Series Overview

The LIN-11GKL combines the open-slot lateral access of LIN-11GK with the extended two-bearing configuration of LIN-11GL. Correct selection when both retrofit access (no shaft removal) and moment-load resistance (two-bearing span) are simultaneously required.

Available in 4 bore sizes from 16 mm to 30 mm. The two internal LIN-11RK open-type bearings separated by a spacer provide greater pitching and yawing stiffness than a single LIN-11GK. Both membranes replaceable in situ without shaft removal.

⚙ Key Design Features

🔎

Open Slot + Long Housing

Lateral access via open slot PLUS moment resistance from two-bearing span — most capable retrofit pillow block in LIN range.

📺

Two Open Bearings

Two LIN-11RK bearings in single long housing. Both replaceable in situ without shaft removal.

📈

4 Bore Sizes

16–30 mm — main diameters where combined retrofit access and moment resistance are simultaneously required.

🔁

Moment Load Resistance

Extended bearing span resists pitching and yawing from offset loads.

🔧

Dry Running

Two LIN-11RK membranes. No lubrication. Maintenance-free. Food-grade and washdown properties apply.

✅

Full In-Situ Service

Replace either or both internal bearings without shaft removal.

🔭 Materials & Performance Data

The LIN sliding membrane is a proprietary high-performance plastic with density 1.48 g/cm³ and kinetic friction coefficient 0.05–0.15 against steel (dry). Max PV value (dry) 0.4 N/mm²·m/s, continuous temperature −50°C to +90°C, short-term peak +120°C. Tensile strength 75 MPa (ISO 527), compressive strength 60 MPa, elastic modulus 2,400 MPa, Rockwell hardness HRR 107. The spiral groove pattern on the membrane bore expels contaminants axially rather than allowing accumulation — the key advantage over ball linear bearings in dusty environments. The aluminium housing is anodised for corrosion resistance.

📈

Max PV (Dry)

0.4 N/mm²·m/s. Kinetic friction 0.05–0.15 against steel without lubrication. Higher PV possible with lubrication.

🌡

Temperature Range

Continuous −50°C to +90°C. Short-term peak +120°C. Cold-start capable at −50°C without special preparation.

🔧

No Lubrication Required

Dry-running design suitable for food, pharmaceutical, and medical applications where lubricant contamination is prohibited.

🛣

Chemical Resistance

Resistant to alkaline detergents, dilute acids, mineral oils, and common industrial solvents. Washable with food-industry sanitisers.

🏭 Typical Applications

⚙

Retrofit with Moment Loads

Replacing worn closed pillow blocks where payload creates moment loads AND shaft removal is not possible.

📈

Cantilevered Retrofit Applications

Retrofit of cantilevered conveyor guides and offset-load mechanisms where both span and lateral access are required.

🔁

Long-Stroke Retrofit Axes

Replacing bearings on long-stroke axes where both stroke demands long span and maintenance prevents shaft removal.

🔎

High-Value Machinery

Production machinery where stopping for shaft removal is very costly — LIN-11GKL allows replacement during brief micro-stops.

🔧 Installation & Maintenance

🔎 Lateral Mounting

Slide long housing onto shaft with slot aligned. Rotate so slot faces low-load direction, bolt to frame. Verify both internal bores align with shaft before tightening.

🔧 Load Orientation

Open slot must face away from primary radial load — both internal bearings open on same side. Critical for bearing life.

📈 Load Check

Ratings lower than closed LIN-11GL due to open slot. Use LIN-11GKL table values only.

✅ In-Situ Replacement

Slide housing off shaft laterally, access each bearing position, press out worn LIN-11RK membrane, press in new, slide housing back.

🔎 Selection Guide

Select LIN-11GKL only when BOTH conditions are present: shaft cannot be removed AND moment loads require long housing span.

①

Confirm Environment

Confirm BOTH: shaft cannot be removed AND moment loads require two-bearing span. If only one condition, a simpler model applies.

②

Select Bore & Type

Match bore to shaft. Verify long housing L and W fit machine frame. Plan open-slot orientation to face low-load direction.

③

Verify Load & PV

Apply LIN-11GKL ratings — lower than LIN-11GL. Calculate moment load reactions against individual bearing rating.

LIN series plastic linear bearings overview

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

▶ What is the LIN-11G pillow block and what does it include?

The LIN-11G is a complete linear bearing unit: anodised aluminium housing block with one LIN-01R plastic bearing pre-installed. Mounts to machine base via four threaded holes. Shaft, end caps, and mounting fasteners not included.

▶ What is the difference between standard (G) and long (GL) pillow blocks?

LIN-11G contains one LIN-01R bearing. LIN-11GL contains two LIN-01R bearings separated by a spacer in a longer housing. The two-bearing span provides greater moment-load resistance — specified wherever pitching or yawing loads are present from offset payloads or long strokes.

▶ What is the advantage of the open (GK) pillow block?

The LIN-11GK has an open slot running the full length of the housing top, allowing lateral mounting onto the shaft without removing the shaft from its supports. Essential for retrofit applications and field replacement on machines where shaft disassembly is not possible. Load ratings are lower than closed LIN-11G — select next bore size up if load is close to the limit.

▶ Can the LIN-11G housing be used in washdown environments?

Yes. The anodised aluminium housing resists alkaline cleaners, and the LIN membrane needs no lubrication that could contaminate wash water. Seal the housing mounting-face joint with food-grade silicone sealant and orient the housing with any drain hole facing down.

▶ How is the LIN-11G aligned on a twin-shaft system?

Mount both pillow blocks on a common base plate machined flat within 0.05 mm. Align shaft axes parallel within 0.02 mm per 100 mm using a dial indicator on the shaft. The LIN plastic bearing tolerates more misalignment than a ball linear bearing, but excessive misalignment accelerates membrane wear at the loaded edge.
