UCT300 Series Take Up Bearing Units — Heavy Duty, Setscrew Locking, 25–140 mm

A take-up unit combines a mounted bearing with a slotted cast iron housing that slides along a frame rail or between guide faces, driven by an adjusting screw. The slot travel (controlled by dimensions N1 and N2 — slot width and slot length) allows the bearing centreline to be moved axially or laterally relative to the drive structure after installation, tensioning a belt, chain, or timing drive without removing the bearing from the shaft. Once the correct tension is set, the housing is locked in position by tightening the frame bolts through the slot. This combination of bearing and tensioning mechanism in a single unit reduces the number of components on a conveyor or drive frame, lowers installation time, and makes re-tensioning after belt stretch a tool-only operation without shaft removal.

The UCT300 series represents the maximum load capacity available in a standard cast iron take-up unit, scaling from 25 mm (UCT305) to 140 mm shaft diameter (UCT328). At 140 mm, the UCT328 weighs 83.2 kg, with a frame length L of 515 mm and a slot travel N2 of 80 mm. This combination of heavy structural frame and large-diameter UC300 series insert makes the UCT300 the correct choice for the tail pulley and bend pulley take-up positions on large overland conveyors, where belt tensions reach tens of kilonewtons and the frame must maintain its slot alignment under sustained load without deflecting.
