Overview

High-Performance Gear Couplings for Industrial Power Transmission

Gear couplings are among the most widely used moveable rigid couplings in industrial applications. They transmit torque through the meshing of internal and external gear teeth, connecting two half-couplings into a unified, high-strength assembly.

Renowned for their compact design and broad application range, gear couplings deliver reliable performance with the ability to compensate for axial, radial, and angular misalignment between connected shafts. These couplings are especially suited for horizontal shaft connections operating under heavy loads or at high rotational speeds.

Our range covers drum-shaped (crowned) gear couplings, nylon gear flexible couplings, standard gear couplings, and specialised variants with brake wheels, brake discs, vertical installation, and intermediate shaft configurations. Technical Overview & Selection Guide

Selecting the correct gear coupling begins with calculating the required torque, considering operating conditions, starting frequency, and environmental factors. Apply an appropriate service factor to the nominal torque to account for dynamic loads and torque fluctuations during operation.

Shaft hole types include cylindrical (Y), tapered (Z), and short cylindrical (J1), with keyway configurations following GB/T3852 standards. Finished bore tolerances conform to ISO H7, and key slot width tolerances follow GB/T1801-1999 JS9.

For systems requiring extended shaft separation, consider the WGT intermediate sleeve coupling for greater displacement compensation. Proper lubrication and sealing are essential for all gear coupling installations to ensure optimal service life.

  • Nominal Torque Range 10 N·m to 3,500 kN·m across all series
  • Permissible Speed Up to 10,000 rpm depending on model and shaft diameter
